Youth/Riding Academy

Lisa Jo White, owner of John White Stables, has been named Instructor of the Year by the Arabian Horse Times in 2009, 2010 and 2011. This recognition is awarded based upon the input of the readers of the Arabian Horse Times. Lisa was also the recipient in 2010, 2011 and 2013 of the APAHA (Arabian Professional and Amateur Horse Association) Instructor of the Year Award. This award is voted on by her professional peers and horse owners in the Arabian horse community.

Lisa offers a lesson program for all ages. The focus of our program is to provide our riders with confidence, self esteem, a sense of achievement, and an understanding of horses and horsemanship. Whether you are an adult who is beginning a new adventure in riding and / or horse ownership, or you are the parent of a “horse crazy” child who just wants to ride, we encourage you to join our program which is designed to empower each rider, while keeping him safe. Both adult and youth will be encouraged to participate in local academy shows, where they will ride a lesson horse and compete against other beginning riders.  These shows allow new riders an opportunity to experience the thrill of competition and the satisfaction of accomplishment.

ACADEMY BARN SHOWS

We at John White stables hold Academy barn shows to introduce our beginning riders to the world of competitive riding. Our first Academy Tournament show for 2018 will be held March 3rd in Baraboo WI. We will be reaching out to other barns in the area to organize more Academy Tournament shows in the following months. For more information on Academy show dates and locations, please view our official 2018 Show Schedule.

TROTTING TOTS

Horseback riding, especially for young children, opens developmental doorways that can lead to a happy and balanced life. This program is deisgned for 3-6 year olds and builds on the benefits of horseback riding to sharpen focus, instill confidence, and improve muscle coordination, core strength, blanace, and flexibility. Your young child will learn how to communicate with the horse through body signals and cues. They will learn how to groom and saddle a horse as well. Games, songs, and body movement in the saddle help develop not only the mechanics of horseback riding but also your child's listening skills, sense of responsibility, and creative expression. Lessons will consist of 25 minutes riding time and 20 minutes of grooming and off horse care.
